Why I Love All-Inclusive Destination Weddings

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to help couples plan weddings in a lot of different ways, and one option I continue to love is an all-inclusive destination wedding. There is just something special about packing your bags, heading somewhere beautiful, and having the people you love most there to celebrate with you. But beyond the beach and the scenery, there are some really practical reasons I think all-inclusive destination weddings are worth considering.
You Get More Than Just One Wedding Day
This is probably my favorite part. A traditional wedding day goes by SO fast. You spend months planning every detail, and then before you know it, the night is over. With a destination wedding, you have several days together. You might spend the afternoon at the pool with everyone, have dinner together that night, go on an excursion the next day, enjoy a welcome party, celebrate the wedding and then have breakfast together the following morning. Those little moments end up being some of the best memories.
Everything Is in One Place
One of the biggest things I’ve learned from planning weddings is that the more moving parts you have, the more there is to manage. At an all-inclusive resort, your ceremony, reception, food, drinks, accommodations and many activities are all right there. Guests aren’t driving from one place to another, worrying about transportation or trying to figure out where everyone is supposed to be. They arrive, unpack and enjoy.
It Takes a Lot of Pressure Off the Couple
When you are planning a wedding, everyone naturally comes to you with questions. Now add flights, passports, airport transfers, room reservations, payment deadlines and travel questions on top of that. That can become a lot very quickly. One of the biggest benefits of working with a Wedding destination specialist for a destination wedding is that your guests have someone else to go to for those questions. That means the couple can focus on getting married instead of answering, “What time is the shuttle?” for the 15th time. I’ll also be sure to send each guest an itinerary.

Guests Can Actually Enjoy a Vacation
Your guests aren’t just showing up for a few hours and heading home. They are getting a vacation too. They can sit by the pool, enjoy the beach, book excursions, visit the spa, try different restaurants, enjoy resort entertainment or simply relax. Everyone gets to enjoy the trip in their own way while still being part of the celebration.
It Can Be More Affordable Than People Think
When people hear “destination wedding,” they sometimes automatically think expensive. But when you start comparing everything involved in a traditional wedding, venue, food, drinks, rentals, decor, transportation and accommodations, an all-inclusive option can make a lot of sense. Every resort and every wedding is different, but I’ve seen couples surprised by how much they can include within their budget.

Your Wedding Can Still Feel Like YOU
Destination weddings do not have to feel cookie-cutter. Couples can add their own personality through decor, music, private dinners, welcome parties, excursions, photography, special events and little details throughout the trip. You can keep things simple or make the entire week an experience for your guests. There are so many ways to make it personal.
The Honeymoon Can Start Right Away
Another little bonus I love? You’re already somewhere beautiful. After the wedding, couples can stay at the same resort, move to another nearby property or extend the trip and enjoy some quiet time once everyone else heads home. No rushing to the airport the morning after your wedding unless you want to.
And This Is Where I Think Having Both Wedding and Travel Experience Really Matters
One thing I love about what we do at Happily Ever After is that we understand both sides. We know weddings. We also know travel. That means we can help with the wedding planning while also assisting with room blocks, guest reservations, deposits, final payments, flights, transfers, travel insurance, passports, travel documents and all the little details that come with getting a group of people to another destination. For me, the biggest reason I recommend an all-inclusive destination wedding is simple:
You aren’t just creating a wedding day. You’re creating an experience.
A few days away.Your closest family and friends.A beautiful destination.A wedding.A vacation. And memories you will all talk about for years. And really, what could be better than that?
